In 1874, a group of artists decided to change the course of art history by organizing, in Paris, an exhibition shaking up the established framework: the one where impressionism was born. One hundred and fifty years later, what remains of this revolution and how can impressionism, which has become a historical movement, still nourish, through its anchoring in a visceral search for freedom, the creativity of artists? For its 5th edition , the Normandy Impressionist festival celebrates the contemporaneity of this movement thanks to a program of more than 150 artistic proposals (exhibitions, shows, concerts, etc.), both heritage and contemporary. They irrigate the entire territory of Normandy, whose landscapes and light continue to inspire artists today, in Europe, but also throughout the world, even as far as Japan. So many encounters which offer new perspectives and question impressionism through the filter of contemporary creation.
