BILINGUAL EDITION FRENCH / ENGLISH
120 years ago, a young Romanian artist crossed Europe on foot to settle in Paris. It was in the capital in full cultural effervescence that Constantin Brancusi invented a new way of creating, a universal language favouring direct carving and simple shapes.
When he died in 1957, the artist bequeathed to France his entire studio, with the responsibility of reconstituting it in the premises of the National Museum of Modern Art. Conceived from the matrix formed by the studio, complemented by loans from major international collections, this exhibition explores all the dimensions of Brancusi's creation: sculpture, photography, film, drawing, furniture.
In addition to the catalogue, the album is an opportunity to look back at the series of the artist's masterpieces. A detailed note presents the whole and reconstructs the genesis of each sculpture.
Exhibition at the Centre Pompidou from 27 March to 1st July 2024
