The work "Maternity" is an oil on canvas painting in which Pablo Picasso portrays a mother tenderly kissing her child on the forehead.
Painted during a period in which the central theme of the artist's works was the family, with a strong emphasis on the colour blue and greenish tones reminiscent of water, an element that the artist had very much in mind during this period.
