At the end of the nineteenth century, the Swedish painter Bruno Liljefors (1860-1939) set himself the goal of revealing the beauty of Swedish nature. He represents with virtuosity and poetry the vital energy that animates this wild world. Abandoning the picturesque, he endeavours to represent, in an explosion of details and colours, the animals in their daily lives: the eagle owl in the heart of the deep forest, the flights of wild geese in the twilight, but also the immensity of the waters that border the Stockholm archipelago. The plumage becomes the motifs of goldsmith's work, the silent lakes announce the blue dawn... Through the wilderness, it is the soul of Sweden that the artist reveals in his work.
