With 150 works and documents, the event draws on the museum's rich collection to study, for the first time, a key period in the artistic life of the capital of the Alps. This has often been summed up in its mountain landscape school. Nevertheless, even if it can be considered to represent without doubt the most original part of Grenoble's artistic production of this period, other currents also asserted themselves throughout the century, whose interest and quality are one of the revelations of this exhibition.

The catalogue of the "Dauphiné school" of the Grenoble museum is finally born. It is an event in itself, so much so that it was missing to allow a fair and complete appreciation of the art of this century within the collections. The bias adopted was not exhaustiveness, but a selection of the most beautiful works, also the most representative, of all these regional masters whose existence has for the most part been forgotten and whose only memory is preserved in the names of a few streets.
