Behind the legend of the cursed artist lies a painter who trained with Dutch masters, who stayed in Antwerp, arrived in Paris to join his brother Theo, went to Arles to seek the dazzle of colour, passed through Saint-Rémy and finally lived a final period in Auvers-sur-Oise. A painter with an immense literary and artistic culture, he worked relentlessly, tackling all subjects, from still life to self-portraiture. In a little less than ten years of intense and determined activity, Van Gogh left nearly nine hundred paintings and an incredibly rich correspondence.
