The key to dreams - Jean-Pierre Velly
Jean-Pierre Velly engraved 97 prints, first on zinc and then very quickly on copper, with a chisel and etching, often with a combination of both techniques.
A former student of the Toulon School of Fine Arts and the Paris National School of Fine Arts, Jean-Pierre Velly won the "Grand Prix de Rome" in soft-cut in 1966.
Resident of Villa Medici from 1967 to 1970, then directed by Balthus, he then chose to live in Formello, in the middle of the Roman countryside. Following a boating accident, he disappeared at the age of 47.
