This rather crude form of writing tablets, shaped by the apprentice scribe, has three lines of writing of the master's hand. The student tried to copy some signs, below and on the reverse, with an obvious blunder.

Mesopotamian sites from all periods and the site of Susa, have delivered a large number of school tablets.

The young scribe began by copying simple texts, then he must memorize the pronunciation of the signs and word lists grouped by categories of objects.
When he has more skill, he must practice by copying literary works. His "masterpiece" was crowned with success at the end of his studies.

French and artisanal manufacture: all their pieces are made in terracotta and decorated by hand in their workshop by their craftsmen, according to a rigorous manufacturing process:
1st step, the casting, then the cleaning of the print before the firing. Then comes the decoration with engobes (very fine naturally colored clays) before a last firing to fix definitively this decoration.
As a finishing touch, natural beeswax can be applied to enhance the colors and protect the decoration.
