Like many of his contemporaries, Paul Klee looked to the creations of "children, madmen and primitives" in his search for a hypothetical origin of art. The exhibition "Paul Klee. Between two worlds" re-establishes the dialogue between works from different periods of his career and a collection of objects and documents from his personal collection.
It takes a critical look at the way in which children's drawings, prehistoric art, non-Western art and asylee art enabled Klee to rethink his art and to situate himself in an intermediate space between the myth of an "immemorial fund" and that of modernity.
Exhibition at the LaM - Lille Métropole Musée d'art moderne, d'art contemporain et d'art brut from November 19th 2021 to February 27th 2022.
