In 1954, just after her death, Frida Kahlo's belongings were locked up in the Casa Azul in Mexico City, the "blue house" where she lived all her life.
Half a century later, her collection of clothes, jewellery, cosmetics and other personal items were found in trunks, cupboards, drawers, the bathroom and the cellar of Casa Azul.
The Palais Galliera exhibition opening in September 2022, first shown in Mexico between 2012 and 2014 and then in 2018 at the V&A Museum, London, offers a fresh perspective on the story of this extraordinary artist, whose charisma and incredible sense of style and mise en scène continue to captivate.
The book shows her wardrobe, traditional Mexican clothing and famous self-portraits: an unprecedented combination that helps to illustrate the unique journey of one of the world's best-known artists and icons.
The catalogue is an adaptation of the highly successful catalogue created by the V&A.
Exhibition at the Palais Galliera from September 15th 2022 to March 5th 2023.
