In 2019, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Louvre Pyramid, JR is creating a collaborative artwork on the scale of the Cour Napoléon.
For his second project with the museum, three years after making the Pyramid disappear, the artist wishes to engage his community.
Following a call for support from JR, 400 volunteers from all over the world decided to take part in the project. They glued 2,000 strips of paper together to create a gigantic collage, in order to bring new light to the famous monument.
As an echo to this collaborative work, the lithograph JR at the Louvre and the Secret of the Great Pyramid, Diptyque was created in September 2022 by Atelier JR and produced by the printing company IDEM.
To create this magnificent and unique result, two photos (one of which was taken with a drone) were taken at the same time from two different viewpoints.
The shot was taken at the end of the opening to the public and you can see people about to remove the visuals.
