Max Jacob, Poetic Cubism retraces the life and work of the poet and painter and explores his links to cubism. Jacob's kaleidoscopic personality led him to become one of the emblematic figures of early 20th-century modernism. This book highlights the singularity and importance of his work in the Cubist galaxy, from his artictic affinities and collaborations to his time in Catalonia. Some hundred works by Jacob himself, as well as by such contemporaries as Juan Gris, Marie Laurencin, Moïse Kisling, Jean Metzinger, Serge Férat, the Baronne d'Oettingen, Louis Marcoussis and Alice Halicka reveal the diverse facets of his art, both literary and visual.
