Paul Delaroche (1797-1856)

Paul Delaroche is a French painter, born in 1797 and died in 1856 in Paris. Specialising in history paintings, his work was very appreciated during his lifetime and he received numerous commissions, notably for the Versailles Museum and the hemicycle of the Paris School of Fine Arts. The intelligence of his compositions and the delicacy of his characters' features make him a remarkable painter
