The exceptional nature of this work owes as much to the quality of the works collected, as to their singular history, these works having often been saved in extremis of oblivion or probable destruction.

This catalogue, starting from the collector's point of view, highlights the creators of art brut in order to try, through the tests of the specialists gathered together, to define it without circumscribing it. Two "newspapers" sliding in the publication provide additional insights: one contains the biographies of the 180 artists, highlighting the richness of the journeys, and the other a generous and unprecedented chronology of raw art, explaining the strong links with the stories of psychiatry, psychoanalysis, spiritism, and modern and contemporary art.

Exhibition at the Grand Palais (Galleries 8.1 and 8.2) from 11 June to 21 September 2025.
