FRENCH VERSION
Unlike animals, plants have benefited little from the recent development of cultural history or the older contribution of historical anthropology.
Medievalists, in particular, so curious about the animal world for about 30 years, have left them aside. It therefore seemed relevant to the association Au pied du Sycomore to reflect on what a multidisciplinary study of the medieval plant world might be. In order not to increase the number of themes and problems, two topics have given rise to two successive symposia : fruits in Saintes (2014) and flowers in Paris (2015). The present volume brings together the proceedings of these two multidisciplinary meetings.
Flowers and fruits are indeed "crop" subjects, which affect many areas of daily life and material culture, as well as the world of knowledge, techniques, symbols, dreams and imagination.
