FRENCH VERSION
The exhibition explores the artist's last years of creation, a period of unprecedented freedom in which Henri Matisse (1869-1954), nearly 80 years old, reinvents his art through the cut-out gouaches. These compositions, both simple and universal, become an autonomous plastic language, capable of inhabiting books, textiles, stained glass windows and vast decorative commands.
Beaux Arts Éditions revisits this entire life dedicated to experimentation and the search for a pictorial language always renewed, while highlighting the last period of creation of the artist, where his work on clean forms, the power of colors and the construction of space reaches an absolute mastery.
