FRENCH VERSION
Károly Ferenczy (1862-1917), is perhaps less well known in France than his contemporary and rival, the nabi József Rippl-Rónai. His art is no less remarkable. This first French-language monograph reveals an artist who combines an atypical naturalism with "end of the century" aesthetics and emphasizes the importance and singularities of his painting in the European context of his time. Ferenczy is an eminently cultivated and deeply intellectual artist.
This book traces Ferenczy's career by highlighting the stylistic diversity of his work and showing its crucial role in the emergence of a Hungarian modernity.
Exhibition at the Petit Palais from April 14 to September 6, 2026.
