From many examples of restoration, it addresses traditional and modern methods of gilding. The gilding with tempera, susceptible to an incomparable gloss, the gilding at the mix, as well as the set of funds and other techniques are detailed step by step. The many photographs show the gestures and processes used by professionals. About twenty masterpieces, restored by the gilding workshop, are then examined and each intervention described in detail.
