Originally from the Netherlands, Otto van Rees (1884-1957) and Adya van ReesDutilh (1876-1959) established themselves as major figures in the European avant-garde, engaged in an artistic quest without borders. They traversed the most significant movements of their time - from Divisionism to Cloisonnism, Cubism to Abstraction - and participated in the birth of the dada movement and the founding of the Cercle et Carré group.
They formed lasting friendships with Jean Arp, Georges Braque, Blaise Cendrars, Kees van Dongen, Otto Freundlich, Juan Gris, Piet Mondrian, Joaquin Torres Garcia, Ossip Zadkine and many others. Born of their fruitful dialogues, the works of Adya and Otto van Rees tell the story of two free spirits, driven by the desire to use art to forge a path towards spiritual elevation.
Exhibition at the Musée de Montmartre from March 20 to September 13, 2026.
