FRENCH VERSION
The Paul Gillet collection, formed in the first half of the 20th century, offers a unique opportunity to present an attractive panorama of Italian Renaissance ceramics with the contribution of the most recent discoveries. This collection includes not only masterpieces from the majolica of Faenza, the istoriato of Urbino, the production with metallic chandelier of Deruta and Gubbio, but also very beautiful pieces representative of the other centers. Our knowledge of Italian majolicas has been very rich in recent years. The book written by three prominent Italian specialists logically devotes a chapter to each center which opens with a general text giving the history of the center and the characteristic features of its production, followed by the presentation of each piece with its technical characteristics, the study of its iconography, a large reproduction in color and ancillary illustrations.
