A prolific author of more than 5,000 prints, Hiroshige depicted daily life in Japan before the Meiji era. He is one of the greatest landscape painters in Japan, along with Hokusai, another great Japanese artist. His best-known series include: One Hundred Views of Edo, The Sixty-nine Stations of the Kiso Kaid and especially The Fifty-three Stations of the Tkaid.
