On May 18, 1804, Napoleon Bonaparte, First Consul, was proclaimed "Emperor of the French". Throughout his reign, the sovereign was splendidly surrounded by a "House" worthy of his imperial title. Dedicated officers and loyal servants organized Napoleon I's public and private life on a daily basis and contributed to the regime's influence.
