Picasso - Rodin

Rodin's "The Thinker", of worldwide fame, is undoubtedly one of the peaks of Rodin's art.

The influence of Italian Renaissance sculpture, and particularly of Michelangelo, is noticeable in this figure, which is also indebted to certain 19th century masterpieces such as Carpeaux's Ugolin, of which Auguste Rodin owned a copy. The powerful anatomy of Rodin's Thinker expresses such intense inner concentration that the work has become the universal symbol of human thought.
