Published on the occasion of the exhibition A Swede in Paris in the 18th Century The Tessin Collection, musée du Louvre from October 20, 2016 to January 16, 2017.

Presentation of the collection of paintings and drawings of Count Carl Gustaf Tessin, who served as Swedish ambassador to Paris at the court of King Louis XV from 1739 to 1741. During this period, he acquired prestigious works by such artists as F. Boucher, J.-B. Oudry, J.S. Chardin and Rembrandt, before having to sell them on his return to Sweden to pay off his debts.

Much more than an anthology of masterpieces, this book is a tribute to Sweden's most extraordinary collector, and provides an insight into the art market and Parisian taste in the mid-18th century.
