Baskets Tea cup and saucer
CA200083
This edition offers an identical replica of the original cup made at the Sèvres manufactory circa 1780.
Manufactured by Bernardaud.
A skillfully arranged geometric composition in which garlands of old garden roses link round and vertical cartouches adorned with gilding or flowers (e.g. nasturtiums, morning glories and hydrangeas). It forms a well-balanced grouping that centers on a wicker basket overflowing with peaches, grapes and roses in full bloom, in the manner of a still life.
Decorated by two artists, Jean Chauvaux, a major painter at Sèvres (active 1764-1800) and Nicolas Sinsson (active 1773-1795), this dainty cup is set off by its exquisite shade of dusky rose.
