FRENCH VERSION
The Musée de Grenoble reveals for the first time an exceptional collection of photographs by Charlotte Perriand (1903-1999), a leading figure in twentieth-century design and architecture. Long kept in the shadows, these images show how central photography was to her thinking: a working tool, a laboratory of forms, a way of inhabiting the world. The mountains emerge as a matrix - a space of experience, modernity and freedom - where nature, technology and the body in motion converge.
These images of glaciers, rocks, valleys and everyday gestures unveil the intimate reverse side of a body of work known for its iconic furniture and architecture. They cast a new light on her dialogue with Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Fernand Léger, and extend the vision of a creator who described herself as an 'inventor' rather than a designer.
Accompanied by an original text by Maylis de Kerangal and published on the occasion of the exhibition at the Musée de Grenoble from 4 April to 23 August 2026, this book offers an essential and deeply felt entry into the world of Charlotte Perriand.
