In recent years, the general public has finally had the opportunity to discover the fascinating work of Hilma af Klint, a pioneer of abstraction who created between 1906 and 1915 a breathtaking ensemble of nearly 200 works, gathered under the title of "In recent years, the general public has finally had the opportunity to discover the fascinating work of Hilma af Klint, a pioneer of abstraction who created between 1906 and 1915 a breathtaking ensemble of nearly 200 works, gathered under the title of the "Paintings for the Temple". But the Swedish artist's colorful drawings, watercolors and monumental paintings remain steeped in mystery, and the trajectory of Hilma af Klint herself is complex to apprehend.

This reference catalogue offers an unprecedented reading of his great pictorial work and decodes the meaning for the first time with precision. By addressing the fundamental question of his homosexuality and the influence of anthroposophy on his thought, the artist's specialists renew the interpretation of his work. Hilma af Klint, who now fascinates the younger generations, is thus recognized as a queer prophet, an artist able to tap into traditional sources but also ahead of her time - and, by this, resolutely contemporary.
