The Astrolabe (P800) is a French patrol boat and logistics ship armed by the French Navy. Chartered by the French Polar Institute Paul-Emile Victor, it is used for polar supplies, and remains attached to the French Southern and Antarctic Lands.

Ordered on June 10, 2015 by the Ministry of Overseas Territories to the Piriou shipyard, for a cost of 50 million euros, it is 72 meters long and 16 meters wide, with a tonnage of 2860 tons.
The Astrolabe is designed to navigate in difficult seas, often evolving in the ice pack (icebreaker status). It is operated by about twenty sailors and can support the activity of sixty people for missions lasting 35 days at 12 knots, carrying 1200 tons of cargo. Finally, it has a helicopter platform, a 35-ton crane and a rear gantry.

Its missions are to assert French sovereignty in the French Southern and Antarctic Lands, but also to ensure the surveillance of fisheries in their EEZ. In addition, it contributes fully to the logistic support of scientific bases.
