La coupole de Callet et son étonnant destin - Du Palais Bourbon au musée du Louvre
MX617321
The Louvre conserves an allegory by Antoine-François Callet, painted in 1774 on commission from the Prince de Condé for the Petits Appartements of the Palais Bourbon in Paris, a pavilion destroyed in 1846. The contributions detail the production and history of this trompe-l'œil work, from its creation to its purchase by Göring in 1941, and its arrival at the museum in 2014.
This collective work, edited by Marie-Catherine Sahut, recounts the astonishing destiny of this dome.
